New Zealand Commercial Project Awards winners announced

Results have emerged from the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards held in Auckland on Friday, and we are delighted to see that some of the winning projects feature our Equus products!

The New Zealand Commercial Project Awards were developed by a group of commercial contractors who wanted to celebrate excellence in their craft. The aim of these awards is to encourage excellent building processes and practices, celebrate quality of work and craftmanship, and promote the genuine value of the construction process.

The Burwood Hospital Redevelopment, a major project for Equus, was the National Winner in the Health category, with judges describing it as a “world-class healthcare facility” and an “extremely successful collaboration between the two main contractors and the designers”. A number of Equus products were used in this redevelopment, including De Boer Duo and Duotherm Roof systems, De Boer Debobase Tanking system, RPM Duracon flooring, Equus Chevaline Dexx membrane, and Keim architectural coatings for the exterior finish. This was a big job for our team, and we are proud to have had the opportunity to be so involved in the project.

We love being involved in heritage and restoration projects, so were pleased to see that the Isaac Theatre Royal was also a National Category Winner. The building was damaged in the Canterbury Earthquakes, but has since been strengthened to meet code requirements whilst preserving its heritage value. Great care was taken during the three year rebuild and restoration process, with many key heritage features being retained, and ornate details being carefully replicated. Our Equus Chevaline Dexx system was used as a waterproofing solution along the theatre’s roof parapets, where the top of the roof and façade connect.

The Aurora Centre in Wellington, was the National Winner of the Commercial Category. The building underwent seismic strengthening and a comprehensive refurbishment, with careful planning and programming being deemed critical to the success of meeting deadlines and keeping workers and the public safe. The building is now an ultra-modern office space, offering plenty of natural light and views of the terrace. The build required our Equus De Boer Duo two-layer roof system – a high performance roof membrane that is both UV resistant and flexible, which is ideal for a building that is in a high exposure area and prone to earthquake activity.

Some of our other projects also received high accolades, and each used our Equus De Boer Duo roof system as part of their development.
